Choosing the Operation

Every equation tells you which operation belongs in it — you just have to read the size of the result.

Result much larger than both numbers? It is almost always multiplication: 6 ? 7 = 42.

Result smaller than the first number? Think subtraction or division: 18 ? 6 = 12 is subtraction, 18 ? 6 = 3 is division.

Result slightly larger? Addition: 18 ? 6 = 24.
